Week #3 Reflection: Early Life in the Church
Verse to memorize
“Let us devote ourselves to the care of one another.” (Based on Acts 2)
Passage
Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day. They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common; they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one’s need. Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. (Acts 2:41-47)
Questions
1. “They” at the beginning of the passage are the thousands of people that heard the apostles, saw the signs and came to believe and confess that Jesus is Lord. What would it look like to “devote yourself to the teaching of the apostles”?
2. The communal life is so important for building up the body of Christ. What are some specific ways that you as a family can be encouraging the people around you through inviting them to your home, inviting them to church and sharing your lives with others?
3. “Signs and wonders” are not things from the past – everyday there are “signs and wonders”. How can we make ourselves more available to the Holy Spirit so that He can work through each of us so that “every day the Lord” can add to the numbers of those who are being saved?

Todos se reunían asiduamente para escuchar la enseñanza de los Apóstoles y participar en la vida común, en la fracción del pan y en las oraciones. Un santo temor se apoderó de todos ellos, porque los Apóstoles realizaban muchos prodigios y signos. Todos los creyentes se mantenían unidos y ponían lo suyo en común: vendían sus propiedades y sus bienes, y distribuían el dinero entre ellos, según las necesidades de cada uno. Preguntas para reflexionar:
1. Al comienzo de esta cita bíblica, “Ellos” se refiere a la multitud de personas que escucharon a los Apóstoles, presenciaron milagros, creyeron, y confesaron que Jesús era Dios. ¿De qué forma te verías tú “siguiendo devotamente las enseñanzas de los Apóstoles?
2. La vida en comunidad es muy importante para fomentar el crecimiento en Cristo. ¿Hay alguna manera específica en que tú y tu familia puedan motivar a otros en la fe? Tal vez invitándolos a tu hogar o a la Iglesia y compartiendo tu testimonio de vida con ellos?
3. “Las señales y prodigios” no son sólo cosas del pasado – cada día Dios nos muestra nuevas “señales.” ¿Como podríamos tener una mayor apertura a la acción del Espíritu Santo, para que Él se manifieste a través de nosotros, y Dios pueda así aumentar el número de almas que lleguen a la salvación?
