Week #3 Reflection: The Wise and the Foolish Man

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock.” (Matthew 7:24)

“Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on rock. 25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. But it did not collapse; it had been set solidly on rock. 26 And everyone who listens to these words of mine but does not act on them will be like a fool who built his house on sand. 27 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and buffeted the house. And it collapsed and was completely ruined.” (Matthew 7:24-27)

1. How do we “listen to these words of mine”, in other words, how do we listen to God’s word? Are there ways that we can listen better?
2. What does it mean to “act on” the words of Jesus?
3. Have you ever felt floods of rain and stormy weather in your life? How can knowing God’s word and acting on it help us in really difficult times?
