Week #2 Reflection: Trust in The Lord
Verse to memorize
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB)
Passage
“Now Jericho was tightly shut because of the sons of Israel; no one went out and no one came in. The Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the valiant warriors. You shall march around the city, all the men of war circling the city once. You shall do so for six days. Also seven priests shall carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up every man straight ahead. So he [Joshua] had the ark of the Lord taken around the city, circling it once; then they came into the camp and spent the night in the camp.
Now Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the Lord. The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord went on continually, and blew the trumpets; and the armed men went before them and the rear guard came after the ark of the Lord, while they continued to blow the trumpets. Thus the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp; they did so for six days. Then on the seventh day they rose early at the dawning of the day and marched around the city in the same manner seven times; only on that day they marched around the city seven times. At the seventh time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city.”
So the people shouted, and priests blew the trumpets; and when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight ahead, and they took the city. (Joshua 6:1-5, 12-16, 20)
Questions
1. Joshua was a warrior who was used to fighting with weapons in battles. Place yourself in his shoes and talk about what he might be thinking when God asks him to march around with trumpets. Yet he obeys God. Why do you think he obeys God without question?
2. Has there been a time in your life where you trusted God and His plan? What happened? Is there someone you could share your story with who needs to hear that he or she can trust in God?
3. Is there a place in your life where you need to trust God more and follow His plan? What might give you the courage to trust in Him more?

Al séptimo día se levantaron temprano, al despuntar el día, y marcharon alrededor de la ciudad de la misma manera siete veces. Sólo aquel día marcharon siete veces alrededor de la ciudad. Y sucedió que, a la séptima vez, cuando los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas, Josué dijo al pueblo: ¡Gritad! Pues el SEÑOR os ha dado la ciudad.
Entonces el pueblo gritó y los sacerdotes tocaron las trompetas; y sucedió que cuando el pueblo oyó el sonido de la trompeta, el pueblo gritó a gran voz y la muralla se vino abajo, y el pueblo subió a la ciudad, cada hombre derecho hacia adelante, y tomaron la ciudad.” (Josué 6:1-5, 12-16, 20 BLA)
Preguntas para reflexionar:
1. Joshua era un guerrero que estaba acostumbrado a luchar con armas en batallas. Ponte en su lugar y habla sobre lo que podría estar pensando cuando Dios le pide que marche con trompetas. Sin embargo, él obedece a Dios. ¿Por qué crees que obedece a Dios sin cuestionarlo?
2. ¿Ha habido un momento en tu vida en el que confiaste en Dios y en su plan? ¿Que pasó? ¿Hay alguien con quien puedas compartir tu historia que necesite escuchar que él o ella puede confiar en Dios?
3. ¿Hay un lugar en tu vida en el que necesites confiar más en Dios y seguir su plan? ¿Qué podría darte el coraje para confiar más en Él?
